The MAEA Communications Committee produces the MAEA Media, an on-line newsletter,
implemented in 2005 by Past President Barbara Goodwin and continued in 2006
and 2007 by Shannon Parker and,on occasion,a short newsletter for decision-makers
highlighting adult education in Maine. The Communications Committee works
on marketing initiatives. They have also recently developed several exceptionally
professional marketing pieces including the Workplace Brochure and a membership
brochure for MAEA. They have developed a variety of tools for MAEA and local
programs to use, including a logo, a table-top display, and banners.
Legislative
Contact: Cathy Newell
The Legislative Committee works with Howe,Cahill & Company to design
effective strategies with the legislature and state government. The committee
oversees the Meet and Greet campaign, an e-mail alert, contact system, and
involving member programs in their efforts .In 2006, Otis Smith, Director
in Houlton, acted as a special liason with the congressional delegation.
Many directors, teachers and students participated in contacts with federal
and state representatives to advocate for funding. The Annual Hall of Flags
event,Adult Education dayat the Legislature will be on May 10, 2007.

The Professional Development Committee oversees the workshops MAEA offers,
including the Directors Academy.
