Adult Education Hall of Flags Day at the Legislature

MAEA sponsors an annual visit to the legislaturewith displays, student visits, coffee and refreshments for legislators and staff.

2008 - Monday, April 7 - A great day with displays, and an excellent turnout of learners who enjoyed the sentiment and introductions in the House and Senate. Governor Baldacci and Commissioenr Gendron were treated to excellent personal stories given by a good number of learners. Ellen Dickens was the chair for the 2008 event, assisted by Cathy Newell and Pam Cahill.

2007 - Thursday, May 10 - The Hall of Flags was full of displays from 15 programs and the sentiment sponsored by a large number of legislators was read in both House and Senate. Governor Baldacci and Commissioner Gendron spoke as did our special friend, Senator Peggy Rotundo. Certificates were given to members of the Appropriations and Education Committees as well as to Rep. Patsy Crockett, a strong advocate for our field. Thanks again to Suzanne Rojas for chairing and to Pam Cahill for her organizational work on the day.

2006 - Monday, April 10 -Another excellent day with the Governor and legislative friends plus the usual exceptional displays and a good group of excited adult learners.Suzanne Rojas did a great job as chair.

2005 - Tues. April 26- Governor Baldacci was present and spoke and Senator Peggy Rotundo was honored for her work on our behalf. Senate President Beth Edmonds and Assistant Majority Leader Bob Duplessie made brief remarks. The hall was crowded with displays and an excellent turnout of adult learners crowded the galleries when the resolution was passed.
