Congratulations to Razell Ward on her promotion as the new full time Adult Education Director for the 2009-2010 school year. Razell has been our lead teacher within our program for over six years and she is described by many students and co-workers as dependable, fun, reliable, hard-working and always willing to give 110% to everything she does. She looks forward to several new and exciting things that our team will bring to the community both in enrichment and academics. She is also excited to see what our community can usher in to help our program thrive and grow.

Registration is now open for all fall courses at Lewiston Adult Education! Courses will be available in academic subjects for high school diploma or college prerequisite credit, training will be offered in trades, business skills and computer technology, and just-for-fun enrichment workshops will be available on various kinds of arts, crafts, culinary delights, and health and wellness topics.
Also, this fall Lewiston Adult Education is announcing a new intensive training program for those interested in entering a career in hospitality. This program, "Introduction to Hospitality Careers," offers participants up-to-date and hands-on training relevant to entry-level hospitality jobs, such as kitchen support, wait and service staff, and front desk and reservationist positions. Participants in this program will also learn about the in-demand customer service skills sought by employers today.
Job skills training will also be available in trades, including "Automotive Repair," "Culinary Arts," "CNA," "Small Engine and Power Equipment Repair," "Welding," and "Woodworking."
Training and skill-building is also available in numerous computer applications, at a variety of levels- from the introductory-level "Absolute Beginner Computers" and "Computer Literacy," to more advanced computer topics such as "QuickBooks," "MS Excel," "Video Game Programming" and "Web Design."
Courses for High School Diploma completion and college prerequisites will also be available, including "Algebra," "Applied Algebra," "Chemistry," "US History," and "Writing Workshop."
GED prep and testing is also continuously offered at the Adult Learning Center. To inquire about earning your GED, call 784-2928 ext. 2.
The "College Transition Program" and "Transition to College and Careers: Health Care Edition" program will both be available to members of the community at no cost this fall. These programs offer support and skill-refreshing to adults interested in attending college for the first time.
As always, dozens of just-for-fun personal enrichment classes will be offered throughout the fall season, including some new courses and workshops such as "American Military History," "Beginning Drawing," "Bulb Basics," "Dried Harvest Arrangement," "Local & Seasonal Desserts" and "Practical Family Nutrition," to name a few.
