Sun Journal photojournalist to teach for Lewiston Adult Education in Winter-Spring 2017 [Lewiston Adult Education]


Stasia Minkowsky laughs during her Metaphysics and Meditation class in the fall. The popular Lewiston Adult Education teacher will teach a number of meditation classes in the Winter-Spring 2017 semester.



Lewiston Adult Education has released its Winter-Spring 2017 brochure with new classes on photography to Virtual Reality.

Sun Journal photographer Russ Dillingham will teach Photography Tips from a Pro. The one-night class will include some of the pictures he has taken for the newspaper and explanations of how he uses drones and video as additional tools to tell a story.

Spring Super Saturday is scheduled for March 18 at Lewiston High School. It will include classes such as Muffin Basket, Virtual Reality, Arabic and Egyptian Cooking. University of Maine graduate student Camden Bock and Professor Justin Dimmel of The Maine Center for Research in STEM Education will show how technology can be used in games and in teaching as part of their Virtual Reality class.

Popular classes such as Rug Braiding, basket weaving and Standup Comedy Workshop are returning. Stasia Minkowsky will also teach more sessions of meditation in the Winter-Spring semester.

Workforce classes will have a number of new choices. They include the Financial Services Certificate, a Medical Specialist class and a one-night Notary Public class. Welding I and II along with the Certified Nursing Assistant Program shall also be available for sign-up. 

 People interested in refreshing their skills before taking a college class can register for the College Transition Program. Those who would like to get their high school credential or become an American citizen can also take classes in the coming semester.

Computers are being offered as-is, without support from CMCC or manufacturer warranty. Each computer includes the factory-supplied OEM license for the Windows Vista Business operating system*. In order to use Office 365 on these computers a license for Microsoft Windows 7 or higher will need to be purchased separately.

Congratulations December Graduates! [Lake Region & Fryeburg Area Adult Education]

December 2016 Graduates

An elegant Lake Region & Fryeburg Area Adult Education graduation ceremony was held at Crooked River School on Thursday evening, December 15, 2016.  Four of the six students who recently earned their high school credential attended the graduation ceremony along with dozens of proud friends and family members.

CRMA Course at Mt. Blue Adult Ed - February 2017! [Franklin County Adult Education]

Health care professions are among the fastest growing occupations and you can be part of this trend in 2017!  Mt. Blue Adult Ed will be offering a CRMA course in February.  In 40 hours, you will learn the skills to become a CRMA, or Certified Residential Medication Aide and begin a new career.  The class will be held at the Mt. Blue Adult Ed Learning Center on the Mt. Blue High School Campus the week of February 20-24 from 8-5 every day.  The cost is $350.  Call Adult Ed at 778-3460 for more information or to register.
