Career Advising Success Story [Gorham Adult Education]

We are happy to share the success of one of our students...

Tracy came to Gorham Adult Education in January after losing her job of 15 years.  She obviously hadn’t looked for work or interviewed for many years and was still dealing with the shock of losing her job.  We worked on familiarizing Tracy with current job search trends, refreshed her resume and looked at job listings together to pinpoint an ideal position for her.  We brushed up on her interviewing skills and in turn, showed her the value of her previous and transferable experience.  So much of a positive interview experience comes down to confidence.  I was thrilled that after just a few interviews, Tracy found a position she felt was a good fit.

I contacted Lori to help me with my job search after losing a job of 15 years and had not been on any interviews during that time.  Lori was very helpful, making me realize my worth for my job experience and knowledge.  She reviewed and consulted me on how to better my resume and conduct myself with my interviews right down to my outfit!  I was confident, poised and prepared and found a job within just a couple weeks of interviewing.  Lori followed up several weeks after the start of my new job to “check in” and see how everything was going.  I want to thank Lori for all her help and expertise on helping me find a new career.
