College Transitions to Receive FAME Award

Maine College Transitions Receives FAME Award

The Maine College Transitions Program has been selected from among several nominees for FAME’S “Education at Work for Maine” award.  The award will be made at FAME’s Annual Meeting on November 10th at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland.  Congratulations to all those who have made Maine's College Transitions program a success!
Maine College Transitions is an initiative of the Maine Department of Education and the Compact for Higher Education. Funding is provided by the State of Maine initiated by Governor John Baldacci following a successful multi-year pilot funded by the Nellie Mae Education Foundation and an initial state program sponsored by Senator Libby Mitchell. Maine College Transitions is a comprehensive program of study leading to enrollment in a post secondary institution. Offered through local adult education programs, programming includes career planning, case management and data collection, instruction in college preparation coursework, and the development of a peer cohort and/or/coaching system. Currently approximately 1,300 students are enrolled in the twenty-two grant programs offered in forty communities across the State of Maine.
