Learn How to Landscape for Butterflies

Learn ways to manage your home landscape to attract butterflies and other pollinators. Selection of shrubs, plant choices and management practices will be discussed. The instructor is an Extension Educator with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. Class is being offered by Gardiner Adult Education at Gardiner High School on Tuesday May 21 at 6 pm. Registration fee is $9.00. Call 582-3774.

Upcoming College Tours at Gardiner Adult Education

Gardiner Adult Education will be hosting tours of two colleges, as well as a visit to Midcoast Hospital. On May 30, participants will visit the SMCC campus in South Portland, which will include a tour of Portland featuring the Freedom Trail and Observatory. A campus tour of of KVCC in Fairfield is tentatively scheduled for the week of June 3. During the week of June 10, a tour of Midcoast Hospital Lab and Imaging will be held for those interested in medical lab technology, radiology, ultrasound or other imaging careers. Next Driver Ed Class begins June 4, 2013 at Winthrop High School

Class begins June 4, 2013, 6-9pm at Winthrop High School.

Area Driving School provides driver education classes that consists of 30 hours classroom instruction and 10 hours of behind the wheel instruction. All of the instuctors are licensed by the State of Maine and certified in First-Aid. The vehicles are fully insured and inspected by the bureau of Motor Vehicles. Students must be 15 years of age by the first class. You'll need to bring your birth certificate, social security card, corrective lenses (glasses or contacts), blue or black ink pen and paper.

Welcome to Deb Bomaster, new director of Lawrence Adult Education in Fairfield!

Deb came to us from Maranacook Adult Education in Readfield and juggled her time between our two programs for a while before coming on board for good on April 22nd.

We are so pleased to have her here with us. She is such a wonderful addition for our staff and students!

Deb is bringing a fresh outlook to our program and there are many good things to come!

In this class you will review your skills, interests, and experiences and relate them to occupations; identify educational opportunities; research the local job market; and develop a step-by-step plan to achieve your goals. Whether you are unemployed, underemployed, or considering a career change, this class will help you achieve employment success for today and tomorrow.

This online class is for anyone with internet access who is looking for a class with flexible hours, where you will not have to attend a live class, and can work at your own pace within the scheduled weeks of the class. Participants will connect with the instructor and classmates in online discussion boards, conference calls and more.

This class is being offered twice. Please sign up for either the summer or fall class.

Registration deadlines – Summer class: June 24th, Fall class: September 27th
The summer class will run from July 15 – August 23
The fall class will run from October 14 – November 22
